Made here at 1929 Pickguards, we have a replacement pickguard for the early Gibson L-5P and L-5C. These large guards were used on early cutaway Gibson archtops before they switched to the smaller guard shape used today (starting in the 60s with the Florentine [sharp] cutaway guitars). These guards are a dark tortoiseshell acrylic material with 5-ply White and Black binding. They are made from a direct tracing of a vintage factory Gibson pickguard. I can also cut any pickup slots at your request. These are made for the L5 C and L5 P, but will fit any Venetian (rounded) cutaway archtop, such as the Gibson Super 400, Epiphone Broadway, Emperor Regent, D'Angelico Excel, and similar.
These guards are made-to-order, and the current build time is 2 weeks.
I ship my guards undrilled to match all applications. Each guard is fully cut and polished by hand. Material pattern will vary between each guard. I use two layers to create the thickest outer binding layer, as Epiphone and Gibson have done. I find it lasts longer this way.
