VIDEO DEMO HERE! Up for sale from my personal collection is this ~1970 Gibson Super 400 CES. All original with the cool 60s/70s Gibson "iced tea" sunburst color, except the buttercream pearloid pickguard, which was made here at 1929 Pickguards. Beautiful 5-piece neck with outer pieces of heavily flamed maple and a center piece of plain maple, which gives it a great look. Big original sealfast tuners and a vintage (purchased from Gibson) ABR-1 bridge. Factory T-Top patent no. humbucking pickups sound fantastic.
This is a Player Grade guitar that has been heavily gigged by an old Chicago musician named Earl Wright, who has inscribed his name into the heel cap (cool!!). The finish has some marking in places that looks to be a reaction from a case or something that touched the finish at one time, the gold tailpiece and hardware are tarnished, and there are countless small nicks and dings in the (original) Nitro finish. None of those affect play, however, the neck heel has begun to pull away slightly. This makes for higher than optimal action on the high end of the neck. It's still playable (see demo video), but will require a neck reset in the future for the best performance. This has been factored into the price. The serial number has been partially obscured by (perhaps) a clip-on tuner that reacted to the headstock finish. Comes with a proper sized hardshell case!
