1951 Gibson Super 300

Regular price $4,500.00

This is my personal guitar, and an excellent sounding Player Grade example of the rare Gibson Super 300 model. A previous owner really loved and played the dickens out of this guitar. The finish is mostly there, original, and shiny. The back of the headstock clearly shows the black stinger (line down back of the neck) with no evidence of any previous headstock cracks at all. It has been refretted at some point, older job wbut lots of life left. The truss rod works and there's a ton of room for the action to be lowered or raised. I have it set up for good acoustic volume.

This is a Player Grade instrument that has been played heavily - there are countless dings, scuffs, small scratches, and checking in the finish. I personally think it looks great. It has a beautiful woody tone and is fully acoustic with no pickup installed. I created a custom version of the marbleized Super 400 pickguard, but with the Super 300's simpler 3-layer binding scheme.

There's belt buckle wear through the finish on the back of the guitar, the neck has worn finish (mostly in the Cowboy Chord section), the first few frets' worth of fretboard has divots from heavy playing. Since I received the guitar with no pickguard, there is picking wear to the body on both sides of the strings. The front center seam of the guitar under the tailpiece has been solidly repaired previously, but the finish along the seam was affected. There are no other cracks on the guitar, and the neck heel joint is also solid.

This guitar comes with a cool brown 90s Gibson hardshell case with the bright pink interior - it's not perfect, but in decent shape.
